Saint Patrick’s Day at Alborán. 2015-16

Our Irish teacher Miss Dawn organised some activities for our primary students to participate in the St. Patrick’s Day Festivities.

We enjoyed some story telling about Ireland and St. Patrick. Plus, we were introduced to the folklore tales of the mischievous Irish fairies, called Leprechaun’s. Miss Dawn is very lucky to have met one when she was 6 years old and they became great friends so when she moved to Spain, he decided to come with her.

So yesterday, Miss Dawn left a letter and some biscuits for Paddy the Leprechaun in her garden asking him to come visit us here at Colegio Alboran for St. Patrick’s day.

Now these mischievous Leprechaun’s do love fun and games and are known to play jokes and tricks on people! However, they do prefer to stay invisible as they are a little shy and don’t like to be seen. Another reason they don’t want to be seen is because if somebody was to catch him them they would have to grant that person three wishes (be careful with how you phrase your wishes they will always try to trick you!) and they have to give them their crock of gold (which they keep hidden at the end of the rainbow!).

So after our story telling and songs we all went to the gardens to see if he had accepted our invitation and low and behold he did come! All the young students were very lucky to see his house and he had very kindly left a letter telling us that he had left some Lucky Charms and Chocolate’s for them. However, because he’s a bit shy and he was a bit nervous incase he was caught, he felt that it would be better if while he was here that he should stay invisible (very sensible decision).

We all enjoyed our hunt around the garden looking for the treats left by Paddy the Leprechaun and we would like to thank him for being so generous in coming to our school to visit us on this very special and lucky St. Patrick’s Day.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day from all of us here at Colegio Alborán and may the Luck of the Irish be with you.
