Literary meeting with Carmen Ramos. World Book Day. 2024-25

The Alborán School's Language Department held a stimulating literary event on Book Day with Carmen Ramos, a writer, novelist, and poet with extensive experience coordinating creative writing and reading activities.
The writer specializing in children's and young adult literature has introduced us to her work "Damascus, the legend of the Torreón," a book read and discussed in class by our students.
Carmen Ramos, with nearly twenty published books of fiction, poetry, and reading research, stated in a relaxed atmosphere that "writing is creating worlds, using the imagination to the fullest."
Likewise, the writer and storyteller, who has also been a music and language teacher, highlighted the work of an illustrator, introducing us to Antonio Santana, who has drawn some of her books.
Our secondary school students actively participated and enjoyed this interesting reading promotion activity, which combined verses from their book "Tiempo de arena" (Sand Time), rhymes, and stories, fostering a love of reading.
Carmen Ramos, who began writing at the age of ten, has encouraged people to acquire the reading habit, commenting that she writes because she has read a lot, so "you want to tell your own story, your own version."
He also explained that inventing characters with their own personalities is difficult, but exciting, recalling Bécquer: "He who has imagination can easily create a world out of nothing."
Finally, he cordially answered all the questions posed and signed copies of his books.
It was an enriching meeting and an honor for our center to have the presence of this prestigious writer.
