Lecture by Rafael Robles Rafatal. 2015-16

Rafael Robles (Rafatal) visited our school on May 3 to offer high school students a Conference on current Cinema, understood as Art, Industry, Culture and Social Media.

This Movie director y PhD in Audiovisual Communication It aroused great interest in the students and dedicated a section to explaining the current possibilities of audiovisual culture. Likewise, he highlighted the importance of communication, of transmitting emotions and of the predisposition to receive and interpret messages. It is not for nothing that cinema is, in the words of Rafatal “the instrument with the most reflective and analytical power”.

He exposed to our students of different modalities of Baccalaureate the fascinating task of directing cinema, delving into all aspects and inviting students not to focus only on the glamorous that awakens the Seventh Art. He stressed the importance of cinema, which “it entertains, but it is also training, learning and information, since it cultivates and develops the knowledge of the human being”.

Rafatal, which is also screenwriter, producer, tv director, radio-television collaborator, written press columnist, communicator and teacher, encouraged the students to "start the path of finding your own voice".

He dealt with topics as interesting and current as the work of the film director, cinema in Andalusia, the Malaga Film Festival.

Finally, the students were delighted with the screening of their short film stones fall from the sky and actively participated in the colloquium, in a visit in which they were encouraged to "to go from mere spectators to full participants in audiovisual messages".
