Literary meeting with Rafael Salmerón. 2023-24.

On March 15, Rafael Salmerón, writer and illustrator of books and posters, visited our school. Salmerón, who has more than 28 published written titles and 73 illustrated books, shared with the students of the last three years of Secondary School his experience as a writer and illustrator.
This activity has been organized by the Language Department, in coordination with the Anaya publishing house, in order to promote a taste for reading.
In an entertaining way, he has introduced the attending students to the fantastic task of an illustrator and has clarified the difference between drawing and illustrating.
He has highlighted the importance of illustrations in a book, highlighting their advantages. However, he also commented that if not done well it can have the opposite effect.

He has focused on his work "The Dry Branch of the Cherry Tree", which has won important awards such as the 2021th Anaya Prize for Children's and Youth Literature 2022, the National Prize for Children's and Youth Literature 2022, and the Cuatrogatos Foundation Prize XNUMX and Selection.

In a participatory meeting with the attendees, he gave us a beautiful drawing of a special shark, which has its personal story.
He knew how to transmit his passion for writing, bringing our students closer to the written and visual content of books, through his perspective as a writer and from his vision as an illustrator.
In short, it has been a very interesting and relaxed meeting, in which there was time to sign books and clarify the doubts of the students, who have actively participated and learned a lot.
