35th Cultural Week. Art Day. 2025-26
On Tuesday, April 21st, we celebrated Art Day as part of our 35th Cultural Week, a particularly enriching day for the students of the Art Baccalaureate.
The art department organized a masterclass with sculptor Venancio Sánchez, a Granada-born artist based in Marbella with a studio in Benahavís, renowned for his highly realistic and expressive bronze sculptures. During the session, he stood out not only for his talent but also for his approachability and unwavering commitment to bringing art closer to young people, sharing his career path with the students and offering a clear and inspiring vision of the sculptor's craft.
Throughout the meeting, he explained his work in both monumental sculpture and artistic jewelry, demonstrating how he adapts his artistic language to different scales, from large urban works to intimate pieces that become jewels, always imbued with sensitivity and emotion. The activity also held special significance, as the artist is the father of our student Carlota Sánchez Espejo, from 2th grade.
The day was completed with a practical session in which the students enjoyed clay modeling and the application of patinas on sculptural pieces previously worked on in class, putting what they had learned into practice in a creative and experiential way.
From Alborán School, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to Venancio Sánchez for his generosity, warmth, and involvement in a day that has left a special mark on our students. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, experience, and sensitivity, and for the wonderful gesture of gifting us not only a unique work of art, but also an unforgettable day that will remain as a lasting memory of this very special encounter.
