The Alborán School considers the presence and visualization of women in the different disciplines that education contemplates to be of great importance. For this reason, it works throughout the year from different Departments on coeducation in the classroom.

When we opened our doors, we read our commitment to gender equality and then, in the classrooms, we dedicate time to debate and reflection.

More specifically, the Department of Language and Literature has carried outor a series of educational activities to commemorate International Women's Day.

Our Secondary and Baccalaureate students have carried out an analysis of the prototypes of women presented by the media in general today and the sexism that still exists in advertising.

On the other hand, she has investigated female writers with a male pseudonym, women in Science or Nobel Prize winners, in order to give these women the place in history they deserve.

In addition, the Artistic and Humanities Baccalaureate students have decorated the school entrance with a large poster, in which teachers and students from Early Childhood Education have participated. In it, we show our disagreement with the still existing gender inequality, joining our hands to create a big purple bow.
On this day we join the initiative of social commemoration that claims equality between men and women, while trying to reflect on the achievements and the challenges we must meet.

Salmerón brought our students closer to the written and visual content of the books, in a friendly and close way, both from his vision as a writer and from his point of view as an illustrator.

Likewise, he highlighted the importance of illustrations in a book, highlighting its advantages, such as that they serve to complete it, so that the message is better understood and that it helps to immerse readers in the story and in the identification of characters.

However, he also commented that if it is not done well it can cause the opposite effect. He highlighted the value of words and intonation, stating that "we must take into account not only what is said, but also the way in which it is said", so we have to adapt the drawings and the style of the illustrations to the narrated story.

Don Rafael is a very prolific and versatile author. He focused on providing answers to all doubts and clarifying concerns that arose around the work "La tejedora de la muerte", by the writer Concha López Narváez, the first book he illustrated, read this year in class by our students.
