The Language and Literature Department at Alborán School organizes numerous activities throughout the school year to promote reading. One of the most interesting is the literary meet-and-greets with authors, as these help foster a love of reading from a very young age.
As part of our Reading Project and in collaboration with the Anaya publishing house, on March 6th Alberto Díaz, illustrator and prolific writer of children's and young adult literature, with more than one hundred published books, both written and illustrated by him, including comics, textbooks and cartoons, visited our center to share literary experiences with the 6th grade Infant students and the Primary students.
All our students have actively participated and conveyed to the prolific writer their doubts and concerns related to the books read “The Barnyard Children”, “Green Dog” and “Detective Owl”, showing great interest in his new book “Wasabi Gang”.
In their works, they highlight the values of empathy and friendship to combat bullying, mystery, adventure, and the defense of diversity.
In an engaging way, in the three sessions she has conducted, she has immersed the students in the creative process of illustrations, highlighting the importance of drawings in a book and encouraging them to read, write and draw to tell stories, drawing a parallel between film, photography and words, which also tell stories, but with less deployment of tools and technical resources.
It has been a very stimulating meeting, which also included a book signing.
It has been a pleasure to have this multifaceted artist with us again, who has also treated us to some beautiful drawings that he created live at the request of the students.

Today at Alborán School we commemorated the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women in order to express our rejection of violence of any kind and more specifically of this type, which is unfortunately so widespread in the world.
We begin the day by reading our institutional commitment and keeping a minute of silence as a sign of respect for the victims.
We have also expressed our rejection of school bullying, which is currently occurring, because it is important to educate in values such as tolerance, equality, respect, and non-violence. Therefore, we work throughout the year to achieve peace at all levels.

All the students in attendance have seen many concepts that are worked on in the classroom materialized, understanding the importance of this work by Fernando de Rojas within the whole of our literary heritage and investigating the medieval and Renaissance features that coexist in this transitional era.
