Defining an evaluation strategy and selecting among a variety of instruments is a job that requires considering different elements, including consistency with the expected learning established in the planning, relevance to the moment of evaluation in which they will be applied, the measurement of different aspects about the progress and support in the learning of the students, as well as the teaching practice.

That is why the richer in instruments an evaluation strategy is, the more learning we will achieve in our students. But it is also true that not only the content is important, but also the container. For this reason, we use different tools to evaluate with the same instrument, enriching the teaching-learning process.

In this case, the students of the 1st year of Secondary Education have used the Socrative application in the area of Language and Literature, specifically for the evaluation of the different verb forms. Because it is as important to check what they have learned as to receive a feedback of their results, since in this way we enhance their motivation. Read more

Learning to write requires planning and a perfectly defined school time, where experimentation and play with the written language can become a reality. Knowledge arises from the interaction between sensory experience and reasoning, which are two inseparable aspects. Therefore, writing activities should not be separated from cooperative work. The advantages it offers are many and so effective that the school cannot miss them.

In the circumstances of a school, the interaction between classmates with slightly distant levels, in skills or in linguistic domain, due to the cognitive conflicts that appear, makes it possible to know others and the different perspectives of the same activity.

Our 3rd ESO students attest to this. They have produced a piece of news using the Cooperative learning. Read more

On the occasion of the celebration of the day of Halloween visited our school Mrs. Sara Rome, Graduate and PhD in Audiovisual Communication, to give a lecture to 4th ESO and Baccalaureate students on Gothic Literature.

Mrs. Sara Roma is currently dedicated to literary criticism and teaching, combining two different but complementary approaches to Literature, such as Creative writing and reading promotion workshop (for youth and adults) called "The Letter with Art enters" and the literary gatherings that he coordinates.

It began with a comprehensive explanation of the historical context of the Romanticism and he insisted during his interesting conference on the importance of reading a book and knowing how to debate, talk about reading, draw conclusions and give our opinion.

Likewise, he spoke to young people about the background and aesthetics of the Gothic novel, connecting with the symbols related to this theme. The students especially loved the way of approaching the subject of horror stories and their characters, as well as its relationship with those of other literary currents.

Expert in classic horror films, she screened the short film Tim Burton's "Vincent" (homage to Vincent Price) that includes many of the gothic elements mentioned in his talk.

He encouraged the students who attended to read a book and "not just stay on the surface of the story, whether we like it or not, but know how to delve into other levels of literature, so we learn to be critical and find creative beauty."

In a participatory environment, he toured different authors (such as Goethe, Allan Poe, Hoffman, Stevenson, Guy de Maupassant, Vladimir Propp, Conan Doyle o Bram Stoker, to name a few) and its connection with the primordial elements.

On October 31 at the Colegio Alborán we traveled to June 1816, to Villa Diodati, to meet Lord Byron, Mary Shelley, Percy Shelley and John Polidori.

We encourage you to consult their website   http://literariacomunicacion.com, committed to literature, works and their authors.
