Within the Proyecto Lector of the Department of Language and Literature and in collaboration with the Anaya publishing house, on March 5 a literary meeting took place with Mrs. Ana Alcolea, writer and teacher of Language and Literature, awarded among other prizes, with the Cervantes Chico Prize .

Doña Ana shared with the students of the four Secondary Education courses literary experiences of her works "The lost medallion" (her first book) and "The forest of dead trees", both read by our students this course, while He gave answers to all the doubts and clarified concerns that arose around these and other works.

The students also showed interest in his works “Carlota's portrait” and “Where seagulls learn to fly”.

He began his speech with a very interesting reflection, stating that "when reading a book, readers are as creative as the writers themselves", that is where the magic of writing lies. And it is that, as she affirmed, words do not mean the same for everyone: “words transform us and we transform them at the same time”.

Doña Ana Alcolea is aware (and this was conveyed during her visit) that her books, the stories she tells and the characters she creates can generate different feelings in each of her readers. "A book says something different to each of us ”. That is why she considers it essential to write from emotions (a fundamental pillar of novels in her opinion) and she recommended that students with literary hobbies not stop capturing her stories. "A good writer or writer has to be attentive to what surrounds him and be curious."

He knew how to convey his love for books, emphasizing that when reading we feed thought, and also emphasizing that "reading grants the ability to have critical and free thinking."

This activity to encourage reading was a space for reflection, an enriching and enjoyable meeting, in which the attendees actively participated in which we all learned that "words are healing and that expressing oneself serves to heal wounds." Read more

On February 12, D. Antonio A. Gómez Yebra, a prestigious author of Children's and Youth Literature, who stands out as a novelist and poet, with an abundant work aimed at minors and young people and who also has numerous poetic and narrative titles, visited our school. intended for adult readers.

This activity to encourage reading has been organized by the Department of Language and Literature in collaboration with the Anaya publishing house, in order to encourage children and young people to love reading.

The professor of the UMA shared with the students of the last cycles of Primary and the first two years of Secondary literary experiences of his books "With the boots on" and "The curse of the princess", works read by our students, clarifying all your doubts and concerns.

All the students who attended participated actively and enjoyed it a lot, showing sincere interest and transferring their questions to this prolific and renowned writer, who has published more than 160 books.

In a close and relaxed meeting, Don Antonio knew how to convey the importance of reading and writing correctly.

This interesting activity turned out to be a walk through the corners of the imagination, which combined prose, recitation of poems and lots of laughter. Read more

The Department of Language of the Alborán School has carried out on February 8 with the students of 2nd ESO a visit to the facilities of the Coca-Cola factory in Malaga.

During this activity, which tries to promote and encourage creative writing, the presentation of the 59th Young Talents Contest "Short Story Award" took place, an important national literary contest in which our selected students will participate in the Short Story modality, the next 23 of March.

This contest has the collaboration of the RAE and it has become one of the longest running literary contests in the country, an authentic literary experience for thousands of Young Talents.

To commemorate the International Day against gender violence, which was yesterday, the 25th, Colegio Alborán has carried out numerous awareness activities with which we intend to show our absolute rejection of gender violence, the most widespread in the world.

Education in values ​​such as tolerance, respect and non-violence is a primary goal for Colegio Alborán.

Among the events held, after reading the institutional commitment of our center, we observe a minute of silence as a sign of respect for all the victims. Likewise, we have carried out readings, poems, talks, showing videos, and exhibitions of work in the classrooms and other activities with the aim of raising awareness in the entire educational community about the need for equality between men and women. In addition, we have carried out Micro-story and Poetry Contests, whose themes have been gender violence, giving hope in all cases, a way out of this situation.

Parallel to these activities, we have developed an interesting exhibition at the school with posters, drawings and messages against violence against women.

Especially today, it has been a day to reflect, in which our voice joins that of the world, which rejects gender violence and fights for egalitarian and peaceful coexistence. Read more

On November 15, the students of 1st and 2nd ESO of the Alborán School attended the theatrical performance of the play "Around the World in 80 Days" at Esad Málaga, a magnificent adaptation by Producciones Lucky & Luke of the recognized work of #Jules Verne.

This activity, coordinated by the Department of Language and Literature, tries to arouse interest in the classics of universal literature, and in it the students have been introduced to the fantastic and adventure novel.

All attendees have enjoyed this ingenious and fast-paced story that has made us travel the world.

At the end of the play, they participated in the colloquium, exposing to the actors and actresses their doubts and concerns about this magnificent work of what is considered one of the fathers of science fiction literature, and they approached them to take pictures. Read more

The students of 3rd, 4th of ESO and 1st of Baccalaureate of the Alborán College attended the theatrical performance of the play "Entremeses" by Cervantes on November 14 at the Superior School of Dramatic Art in Malaga.

Through the Department of Language and Literature, we have attended this interesting activity, which has brought young people closer to our classics, on this occasion who is considered the greatest Spanish writer of all time and one of the best universal writers.

In a didactic and entertaining way, the students enjoyed this fantastic adaptation of two well-known hors d'oeuvres: La cueva de Salamanca and El Vizcaíno feignido, small comic and burlesque plays that were performed in the breaks of the great comedies.

Our students have known, through the plain language and full of irony that characterizes this genre, Cervantes in his role as playwright, while they have been able to actively participate in the subsequent discussion with the actors and actresses, moving us to the comedy theaters . Read more

All the Secondary students of the Alborán School, through the Department of Language and Literature, attended the Marbella Fair and Conference Center on October 25, which hosted a very interesting session of the Rhymed Talking Course Cycle, dedicated on this occasion to Alfonso Canales , great poet from Malaga and Doctor Honoris Causa from the University of Malaga.

This stimulating activity, which tries to promote a taste for poetic texts, was coordinated by the UMA Professor of Language and Literature, novelist and poet, Mr. Antonio Gómez Yebra and launched by the Municipal Delegation of Culture and Education of the City Council from Marbella.
To inaugurate the act, an exhibition and presentation of the honored author by Don Antonio Gómez Yebra took place, in which the students present learned a lot.

Don Antonio, a prolific writer of children's and youth literature, offered us the most relevant information on Alfonso Canales, who was a member of the Royal Spanish Academy of Language and the Royal Academy of History for Andalusia.

Likewise, he made all those attending ESO evoke the dazzling verses of this great Spanish poet, translator and literary critic, whom he defined as "a poet with a superior spirit, a man in favor of art and culture", who was part of the writing team of the magazine "Caracola" and whose work has been recognized with the main awards.

Then, in order to bring #poetry and poets closer to the youngest students, some students from our school actively participated, reciting in public fragments of the most representative works of this great bibliophile.
