In order to commemorate Book Day, the Language Department has organized an interesting writing workshop in April with Shía Arbulú, famous writer, teacher and award-winning playwright, who is also a theater director and Finalist for the 2018 Nadal Prize.
This activity provides high school students with tools to encourage reading and develop creative writing.
The writer, with a great literary vocation and with nine novels published, has addressed recommendations for writing in her talk, stating that “literature is close to music, since it has sound, attitudes, time, rhythm and transmits emotions, like other artistic manifestations. ”.
Likewise, he advised the audience to play with words, let them flow, highlighting the importance of learning techniques and mastering tools, clarifying that “writing is not the same as writing literature.”
To do this, the current director of Momo (School of the Arts) has reviewed all the elements of narration and types of description, clarifying concepts such as argument, plot and theme, illustrating with practical examples.
The result has been a space in which we have shared reflections and literary experiences and where we have learned a lot in a very close environment. A very enriching experience.
It has been an honor for our center to have had the presence of Shía Arbulú.

“Books help make minds bright.”
The Department of Language and Literature of the Alborán School organizes numerous activities to encourage reading throughout the course, among which we highlight literary meetings with authors.
Thus, on February 19, in coordination with the Anaya publishing house, we hosted the visit of Miguel Ángel Oeste, a writer from Malaga, in our center in order to encourage children and young people to enjoy books.
Miguel Ángel Oeste is also a documentary director and screenwriter, critic, film director and collaborator in culture, film and music magazines. In a relaxed atmosphere, she has shared with the students of the last two cycles of Primary her works “Carlota wants to read,” (a work she created for her daughter) and “Sofía, the ant without antennas,” books read by our students. making comparisons between the cobwebs that fill the brains of people who do not read and those that occupy dirty corners. “Books help make minds bright.”
In this literary meeting, he stressed the value of respect and acceptance of those who are different from us and the importance of being oneself, “because we are all unique and different,” encouraging Primary students to water their imagination, as if It will be a plant, so that it does not wither or die.
Likewise, he has highlighted the importance of reading, defining himself as “a reader who writes” and has managed to awaken the curiosity of the attendees, advising them to observe their surroundings, try to look inside people and reflect on the outside world: “ “You have to be curious and passionate about life.”
In a close and relaxed environment, the students have enjoyed and shown interest in the explanation of the elements to create a story: the space in which it takes place, the creation of adventures, the characters (main and secondary) and the values that we want to transmit.
Our students have actively participated and have been able to convey their doubts and concerns to the author, who has published more than fifteen books and has received numerous awards.
It has been a great honor for our center to receive this writer, who has stated to the surprise of the students that “writing is playing” if we know how to pull the thread when we have ideas, and this happens if we are attentive to the world around us.

In the last two years, the 1st Baccalaureate students have adapted some of the stories from El Conde Lucanor, by Don Juan Manuel, often reflecting the current reality, since the human condition and its behavior continues to be a current topic:

In this video, Julia and Carlota tell a story in the style of Count Lucanor adapted to a current problem, such as social networks and image projection.

Marta, Manuela, Carmen and Daniel carry out this adaptation of the teachings of El Conde Lucanor to the present day, highlighting the value of sharing and helping.

Elena, Alba, Lora, Julia, Ethan and Samuel make this original and humorous version of the story XXII of El Conde Lucanor, by Don Juan Manuel, What happened to the lion and the bull, with its final moral “by sayings, and by deeds of some, do not break your friendship with profitable men."

Paula, María, Teresa, Nathalia and Carlota perform the version of the story XXIX What happened to a fox who pretended to be dead. In this story, Don Juan Manuel refers to enduring minor offenses, but not those that affect honor and rights. “He endure things while you could and take revenge only when you should.”

In "Any given day in any gym", David, Hugo and Alejandro recreate the advice that Patronio gives to Count Lucanor adapted to current situations.

Story XII: “What happened to a fox with a rooster.” Sofía, Alejandro, Julia and Lucía convey the teachings of this story by Don Juan Manuel, that you should not feel afraid for no reason, you should not trust everyone and you should know how to defend yourself if the need arises.

Story IX: What happened to the two horses with the lion. Tiana, Carla, Elia and Lucía reflect in this video the advice to the count from his advisor, “With your lands protected from harm, avoid the tricks that strangers plot.”

Hugo and Luna reflect in this current video the story X, “What happened to a man who, due to poverty and lack of food, ate lupines.”

Carmen Luque, Carmen Bautista, Natalia and Alba transfer the teachings of El Conde Lucanor to today's society, where the advice of Patronio, in this case, a friendly counselor, is also valid.

Very free and current adaptation of the teachings on humility of Don Juan Manuel in El Conde Lucanor. Rahul, Daniel, Alberto, Álvaro and Valentino transmit the values: treat others how you want to be treated.

During October 16, 17 and 18, a representation of our students attended an interesting literary creation workshop at the Fernando Alcalá Marín library with the novelist and poet Alejandro Pedregosa.
Our student Alejandro Rodríguez attended for having won a prize in the 2th Marbella Activa Story Contest, and together with some high school classmates, in a relaxed atmosphere, they enjoyed new writing techniques and resources. The participants have enjoyed three days learning how to focus their gaze creatively, how to learn to listen, because a story can emerge from anything if the senses are alert.
We can conclude by stating that in some it has awakened the curiosity to write, and in others, who already did it, it has enriched their methodology.

LIVE LITERATURE
The most relevant literary characters of Universal Literature transcend this day of the classroom and permeate our live Literature school. The 3rd ESO students immerse us fully in the magic and culture of books from all eras.
We have had a very varied and wide gallery of characters and authors: The Three Musketeers, Tom Sawyer, Don Quixote and his faithful squire, Belle, The Three Little Pigs and some pirates from Treasure Island, among others, have visited the classes of their classmates from Primary and Secondary, to explain to them who are the characters or authors of which they have been characterized.

The 4th ESO students have developed a video of great poetic sensitivity, in which they perform a joint recitation of the famous poem by Pablo Neruda "Ode to the book II", so appropriate for this day.

Our 1st Baccalaureate students have recorded an original video in which they tell which book they would like to delve into according to the literary character they have always dreamed of being. Some identify with Sherlock Holmes, others would long to be vampires from different literary works and sagas or characters created by Lewis Carroll. They also dream of coming out of a book by JK Rowling or Agatha Christie, Jane Austen, with mystery literature being the most in demand.

LITERARY YINKANA 1º ESO
ESO 1 students have prepared a series of activities in groups that they show to their classmates from different Primary and Secondary courses. Each stall or stand located outside deals with a literary genre or subgenre (myths and tales) so that visitors can learn through gymkhanas, balloons, bowling, archery and dart games, key concepts and important books of universal literature. A playful way to learn outdoors.

With this activity carried out in March we try to raise awareness about equality, stimulate oral and corporal expression, while learning in a fun way.

March 21, World Poetry Day proclaimed by UNESCO in 1999, is celebrated on the spring equinox in order to consecrate the essential word and reflection on our time.
Although it is a minority genre, it is, in the words of Gabriel Celaya, "(...) necessary poetry like daily bread, like the air that we demand thirteen times a minute."
From the Department of Language and Literature we celebrate this important Day, also called Spring of the Poets, carrying out poetic activities, while we develop projects that consist of posters, drawings and texts that are exposed in class.
In addition, at the entrance to the center, the projects developed to awaken poetic sensitivity and educate literary creativity are exhibited.
We have developed poetic recitals and multiple readings, in which a group of students from different Secondary courses have visited the classrooms of the last cycle of Primary and Secondary Education to declaim beautiful and varied poems of their own creation. In addition, our 2nd year Baccalaureate Arts students Sara, Isabella and Leo have made a video that gives voice to one of Alberti's best-known poems, "El mar, la mar", where the lyrical self expresses nostalgia for the sea when he is far away
The Alborán School thus encourages reflection on the capacity and power of poetic language to convey emotions and suggest feelings, as Carmen Conde affirms “Poetry is the feeling that the heart has plenty of and it comes out of your hand”.

For yet another year, Colegio Alborán has participated with the students of 2nd year of ESO in the Coca-Cola Young Talent Short Story Contest that is held simultaneously throughout Spain.
In it, six students lived an authentic adventure on Friday, March 10, that of being writers for a day.
Participation in this literary contest, the longest running in our country, has been coordinated by the Department of Language and Literature. This year, as a novelty, the digital written test has been carried out in our center.
This important Literature Contest, whose objective is to arouse interest in reading and promote creative writing, reaches its 62nd edition this year and thousands of young future writers from 2nd ESO participate in it.
Based on a surprise narrative stimulus that was unveiled that same day, our participants had to compose a free-themed story in the established time, on the condition of including six predetermined words.
Thus they have freed their imagination and used their creativity and enthusiasm to tell a story.
Good luck, Adriana, Alisa, Anastasia, Luna, Marta and Sofía and congratulations to all for having participated in this adventure.

Through the Department of Language and Literature of the Alborán School, the students of the two Baccalaureate courses attended the theatrical performance of the play "La casa de Bernarda Alba", the last dramatic work by Federico García Lorca, on March 7, in the Peace Palace in Fuengirola, with which we have begun to commemorate International Women's Day, which will be tomorrow.

This activity brings students closer to one of the great authors of Spanish letters, novelist, poet and playwright, while encouraging the development of their imagination and curiosity.

By attending this play, the culmination of Lorca's theater, we intend to promote the critical spirit of our students and use strategies that promote reading comprehension.

Likewise, it is an essential complement to work on linguistic competence and delve into Lorca's literary style and his legacy in our literature.
Our students have enjoyed many concepts that are worked on in the classroom, while they have reflected on the role of women, (it was not in vain that it was subtitled Drama of women in the towns of Spain) in this work with universal value, represented all over the world. that combines realism with poetic rigor.

It has resulted in a fantastic adaptation of this tragic drama and a wonderful staging of this brilliant and symbolic rural drama that presents such important themes as the opposition between authority and freedom or the conflict between desire and reality.

In the end, the attending students have participated in the colloquium after the performance, asking the actresses questions.

The Department of Letters of the Alborán College, in coordination with the Anaya publishing house, has developed an enriching literary meeting held on February 14 with Antonio Gómez Yebra, a prolific author of Children's and Youth Literature who has won many prizes and awards.
Our 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students have really enjoyed this activity to encourage reading, which is part of our Reading Project.
The prestigious writer has shared literary experiences from his books "Gloria Fuertes para todos" and "The best animal riddles", works read by our assistant students.
In two very enriching sessions that have served to foster a taste for reading and the enjoyment of poetry, the UMA Professor has also spent time reciting poetry and posing riddles.
Likewise, during his visit he highlighted many aspects of Gloria Fuertes, whom Antonio Gómez Yebra met, including Versos con faldas, a poetic group made up of women, including the "poet for children".
In a relaxed and receptive atmosphere, the writer, novelist and poet, who has published more than two hundred books, almost one hundred of them aimed at minors and young people, has kindly answered all the questions and doubts raised and has signed copies of his books.
Finally, he has given some of his poems to the students who have guessed their riddles correctly and to our center with his work "Verso a verso", the latest book of poetry that he has so kindly dedicated to the teachers and students of some schools, among them, Alboran.
