Literary meeting with Ana Alcolea. 2022-23

The Department of Letters of the Alborán School, in coordination with the Anaya publishing house, has developed a very interesting literary meeting on January 19 with Ana Alcolea, writer and teacher of Language and Literature, awarded with important prizes such as the Cervantes Chico Prize in 2016, the of Aragonese Letters in 2019, Búho Award 2020 and José Antonio Labordeta Award in 2021.

Our students of the last cycle of Primary and of all the Secondary courses enjoyed this pedagogical activity to encourage reading, which is part of the activities carried out within our Reading Project.

Ana shared literary experiences from her books "El medallón perdido" (her first book), explained how "El retrato de Carlota" (as a continuation of it and a tribute to Cervantes and his immortal work Don Quixote) and "El bosque de los dead trees”, all read by our students this course.

In two very enriching sessions that served to foster a taste for reading and writing and conveyed her passion for books, the writer and teacher explained that fiction occupies a large percentage of our memory, encouraging us to read, because "the more we read the richer we will be."

Throughout his presentation, he highlighted the importance of reading, stating that "if we do not read, we do not reflect and thought remains small", equating language to the necessary food: "By reading we create other worlds, we are freer and we feed our thought ”.
During his visit, he also conveyed the need to be positive: "we are capable of creating something kind, of great beauty, about a misfortune", ideas that he embodies in "The lost medallion" and in his latest work "Beethoven and the thunderous silence".
Likewise, he explained that one of the advantages of reading is the power to grant readers many lives, commenting that it is the readers who shape the words in their imagination, thus projecting themselves in the book as in a mirror. Games of mirrors of reality and fiction used in his work "El retrato de Carlota".

In a relaxed and receptive atmosphere, the author, who has published more than thirty books, and has co-authored many, kindly answered all the questions and doubts raised and signed copies of her books.
It has been a true honor for Colegio Alborán to receive Ana Alcolea again, in a meeting that has encouraged creativity and active participation.
