International Women's Day. 2019-20.

At Colegio Alborán we work on coeducation throughout the year, as we consider the presence and visualization of women in the different disciplines of education to be of great importance.

From different Departments we have developed a series of activities to commemorate this day, devoting time in the classroom to the debate that promotes equality.

Using the power of the seventh art to approach other realities and history, we have watched films that invite us to reflect on the role of women in the fight to reduce gender gaps and for equality at different times.

Our high school students have investigated female writers with a male pseudonym, female inventors or Nobel Prize winners, in order to give these women the place in history they deserve, giving visibility to women in literature. Their posters and projects have been exhibited in the school hall.

Likewise, María and David Puertas have made a video offering real and current data on the rights, opportunities and recognition that women and men have in today's society. These figures have served to raise awareness about the inequalities that still exist in different areas.

Paula Caraballo, for her part, has made a video to commemorate many women we cannot forget, who have made history in different fields and fought for equality.

In addition, our Art and Humanities Baccalaureate students have created a poster with Rosa Luxemburg's famous phrase, which can be extrapolated to any type of inequality.

With the development of these educational activities, for yet another year we join the social commemoration initiative that claims equality between men and women, while at the same time seeking to reflect on the achievements obtained and the challenges that we must meet.
