Literary conferences for teachers. 2019-20

On February 20, a cycle of literary conferences for teachers took place in Malaga, whose objective is to acquire tools to encourage reading and develop creative writing among young people. In them, the Alborán School was present to put into practice new tools and resources to apply in the classes. 

More than 60 teachers from Andalusia participated in them and it has served to discuss the importance of reading and the keys to train young readers, with recommendations for activities to work in the classroom, as well as debates that were enriching for all attendees.

The Function Language School was in charge of carrying out creative writing workshops that dealt with the theme "Play, learn, live" and addressed the theme of play as a pedagogical resource in a practical and entertaining way, "we work with language, which is what that makes us human."

Mr. Jordi Sierra i Fabra, one of the most widely read authors in our country's educational centers, the most versatile and possibly with the most published works in the Ibero-American sphere, was in charge of inaugurating these literary conferences that have been organized by the Coca-Cola Foundation. Cola, coinciding with the 60th edition of the Short Story Young Talent Contest.

The prestigious author of Youth Literature, with more than 500 books written and 13 million books sold, awarded with countless literary prizes and deserving of hundreds of honorable mentions, in a fun and very close encounter, highly valued the teaching work today , highlighting the vocation and involvement of the attendees.

In 2004 he created the Jordi Sierra i Fabra Foundation in Barcelona and the Jordi Sierra i Fabra Letters Workshop Foundation in Medellín, Colombia, as the culmination of an entire career and of his ethical and social commitment. Since then he annually awards the prize that bears his name to a young writer under the age of eighteen.

Also a reference in the music scene, he shared his script process and his work routine with all the attendees, at the same time that he presented us with his idea that “you have to stop and listen to others”.

The prolific writer of all genres, stated that it is really a necessity to discover and promote the talent of young people, affirming that reading is more important than studying, since each one feels something different and unique when reading a book, even if it is the same work. , "the good reader always finds the book that changes his life." Perhaps it will happen to us like him “Reading saved my life. Writing gave him meaning."

However, it turned out to be a space to share concerns, theoretical-practical material and teaching experiences, exploring the creativity of teachers and students.
