Visit to the María Soliña School, in India. 2018-19

Recently our teacher Marta Lerga has visited the María Soliña School, located in Pubai (Orissa region) in India, together with several volunteers from the NGO unplatodecomida.org, with whose work our school has collaborated for years. This association, directed by Antonio Valiente, is in charge of feeding the 340 boys and girls who live in this center daily, because they are in a situation of extreme poverty. On this occasion, and on the occasion of this visit, we have delivered the t-shirts donated by our students.

This educational center is run by the NGO shangaindia.org, founded by Neneta Herrero and it attends to boys and girls from 6 to 16 years of age, who have their basic needs covered and also receive an education recognized by the government of India at all levels. Among other subjects, in addition to the regulated ones, they are trained in sewing, music, dance, English and the official language of the country, Hindi, since their dialect is "Oria".

During this visit we have been able to verify "in-situ" that these two NGOs dedicate 100% of their fees and donations to the maintenance of the school and the minors cared for. The maintenance of each one of them in this school only supposes 10 euros per month.

We want to thank its director, Umesh Chandra, for giving us such a warm and affectionate welcome.
