XXX Cultural Week. Day of Solidarity, Sports and Art (I). 2018-19

The third day of our XXX Cultural Week has been dedicated to Solidarity, Art and Sport and has been developed with activities that promote altruism and creativity.

On the one hand, Mrs. Inma Lorenzo has visited Colegio Alborán today to present the latest Manos Unidas Campaign to our Primary and Secondary Education students. This year it is focused on equality and the dignity of all, and especially, of women who suffer not only for their poverty, but also for the mere fact of being women.

This tireless volunteer gave a very interesting talk that encouraged minors and young people to show more solidarity, explaining the causes and consequences of this situation: "One in three women today is not what you imagine."

Likewise, we view photographs and videos to raise awareness about the ways we have to help, something that our students already do, for example, by participating in the Manos Unidas Clip Film Festival, because "we believe in equality and in the dignity of people ”.

Furthermore, in the hall of the school a stall has been set up for the sale of used Manos Unidas books. In it, anyone who wants to can collaborate by buying or donating those books that are in good condition and are not needed. In this case, the proceeds will go to the project that is being carried out in Punsia, in the state of Jharkhand in northern India. The Gokhla Franciscan Society institution is committed to the development of the region and in 2013 built a school. Currently 84 students from that center sleep there because they come from villages that are 18 km away and the number of students grows every year. That is why this NGO has set itself the goal of building a residence for girls where they can study and develop in a suitable environment.

On the other hand, today we have carried out our III Colegio Alborán Solidarity March. As usual, the journey has been developed in the vicinity of our center and both the teachers and the students of Primary and Secondary have participated in it, after making a donation.

The money raised (amounting to 355,33 euros) with our III Solidarity March will go to the "Yo Soy Tú" Association, which has created and manages the Miraflores de los Ángeles soup kitchen-dispenser, in Malaga since 2013. .

"I am you", a name that makes us reflect on the importance of putting ourselves in the place of others, of empathizing with the most disadvantaged, serving the most needy, offering food to all those who live without a roof, on the street and families that are on the edge of “social exclusion”.
For this reason, they fulfill the double function of dining room and dispenser, which they carry out in three different ways depending on the situation: Plaza in the dining room, food withdrawal and food at home.
