March 8. International Women's Day, 2023-24.

At Alborán School we work on coeducation throughout the year and carry out activities that promote equality in all areas.
For this reason, we have inaugurated March 8, International Women's Day, by reading our commitment to equality and in the classrooms we have dedicated time to debate and reflection on the achievements obtained and the challenges that we still must achieve.

Likewise, we have developed a series of varied projects and activities. In this way, we aim to eradicate behaviors and stereotypes that are still present today and that do not respect women's rights.

The 1st year Baccalaureate of Arts and Humanities students have created an original mural to make visible the work of important women in all disciplines and eras (we have honored writers, historical figures, artists, athletes, scientists... who have fought for
equality).

Furthermore, the students of these two modalities have created, following Rozalén's metaphor, a violet door, through which we can escape from unfair and discriminatory behavior, encouraging us to ask for help in case of inequality. And to complete the project, they have made a music video, in the subjects Universal Literature and Audiovisual Culture of the song “The Violet Door”, in which all the students have been involved.

Likewise, we have worked on an interdepartmental project, so that our students have investigated and characterized themselves as people of different nationalities and fields who have fought for equality: writers with a male pseudonym, artists, scientists, activists, astronomers, academics, suffragettes…with the aim of rescuing these women from oblivion. They have transferred all this information to all their classmates from other courses.
The 4th year of ESO students have carried out a storytelling workshop aimed at students from 4th year of Primary to 4th year of ESO, in which they have told and reflected on the story Arturo and Clementina, by Adela Turín.

Likewise, the Department of Sciences has carried out a project on Women and Girls in Science with 3rd year ESO within the subject of Physics and Chemistry, as an informative scientific activity to raise awareness of female scientists throughout the history.

The students have researched women scientists from different areas and historical periods, understanding the difficulties they had to live and face to dedicate themselves to work related to science.

The English Department, for its part, has carried out a very interesting project: Collaborative Padlet on the empowerment of women through music, in which students from 1st ESO to 2nd Baccalaureate have been involved.
