International Women's Day. 2018-19

At Colegio Alborán we work in the classrooms throughout the year, and not only in March, on the subject of coeducation, since we consider the presence and visualization of women in the different disciplines of education to be of great importance.

We inaugurated International Women's Day by reading our commitment to equality between women and men and already in the classrooms we have dedicated time to debate and reflection. From different Departments and subjects we have developedcarried out a series of activities to commemorate this important day.

Our Secondary students have investigated female writers with a male pseudonym, female inventors, in Science or Nobel Prize winners, in order to give these women the place in History they deserve, displaying posters and projects in the school hall. One of the most striking has been the mural made in the field of Ethical Values by the students of 2 ESO, not only the originality of its elaboration, but also for including some QR codes that gave access to information related to the women who were exposed .

On the other hand, the students of 3rd year of ESO have carried out a play entitled "This did not happen in my time" that shows the struggle of women for their equal participation in society. In the work they have represented, they have conveyed the need to use our environment to change this reality and eradicate many behaviors and stereotypes that do not respect the dignity and rights of women.

Likewise, they have wanted to capture their creativity in an audiovisual work, by creating a video about the achievements obtained in pursuit of equality and that has served to stir your consciences.

In addition, the Artistic Baccalaureate students have decorated the entrance to the school with a mural, which shows women of different ages, races, styles and conditions demanding, in different languages, the longed-for equality.

On this day, with the development of these activities, we join the social commemoration initiative that claims equality between men and women, while at the same time trying to reflect on the achievements obtained and the challenges that we must achieve.
