Virtual literary meeting with Don Emilio Calderón 2020-21

The Alborán School, within the Project to promote reading of the Department of Language and in coordination with the Anaya publishing house, has developed a stimulating reading animation activity on April 23, on this virtual occasion, with Mr. Emilio Calderón, historian , editor and writer born in Malaga.

Nothing better to celebrate Book Day than a very interesting literary meeting for our Primary and Secondary students.

Calderón shared with the attendees experiences and experiences about his books "The wax ghost", (The first book he wrote, whose objective is to help overcome fears) "The sky on fire and other mysteries", both read in class by the last four years of Primary, as well as his works "Julieta sin Romeo" and "The mummy who loved me" worked in the first cycle of Secondary.

Calderón, whose vocation was to be an Egyptologist, transfers the Egyptian world to his novels, as well as incorporating fun tongue twisters and stories related to his childhood. His amusing characters, adventures, and personal relationships have attracted our students, as have the nature-related aspects and the more poetic fragments present in his works.

"The mummy who loved me" is above all a story of eternal love, "Love is the most important engine, which drives us and saves us," he says.
Juliet without Romeo is another story of true and deep love, beyond the physical aspect, an affinity of souls. For this reason, its author proposes to young people not to get carried away by superficial attraction and physical appearance, but by the interior of people, because it is what is really important.
Founder of the Cirene publishing house, his works have been translated into many languages, reaping numerous successes. He has published 30 books, from children's stories to novels, essays or even the biography of Nobel Prize winner Vicente Aleixandre.

This writer has been a finalist for the Planeta Award and winner of the Fernando Lara Award, among other awards, and has been awarded a Silver Microphone from the Association of Radio and Television Professionals for his contribution to the world of culture.

It has been an honor for the Alborán school to receive the two affectionate videos by Emilio Calderón, and we look forward to an upcoming face-to-face visit to exchange impressions, as it has been an activity of great educational value that has served to promote a positive attitude towards children. books and spread a passion for reading.
