Awards ceremony for the regional final of the Manos Unidas Clip Film Festival. 2017-18

The Alborán School has joined for another year the initiative for the challenge of hunger organized by Manos Unidas. Our Secondary Education and Baccalaureate students, through the Department of Language and Literature, have participated in the Clip Film Festival of this NGO that has been working for almost 60 years to combat poverty in the world.

Said Festival is a development activity whose purpose is to raise awareness among students about poverty, underdevelopment, hunger and inequalities.

In its IX edition, the theme has been "What is your recipe to fight against hunger?" Under the slogan "Your point of view can change the world", our students have made a total of 13 one-minute videos, with which they intend to contribute to eradicating hunger and injustice in the world.

We have been present at the Andalusian Regional Final, which took place at the Palacio de la Merced, headquarters of the Provincial Council of Córdoba, on March 14 and in which we have been finalists with two of our videos.

The clip film "Recipe against hunger" made by Néstor Salinas, Héctor Asesio, Kai Wall and Valter Somlai has been chosen among the 5 best in all of Andalusia and we have also received the Third Prize for the video "Hunger in the world" by Lucía Casado Torres.

Ana Guijarro (Delegate for Development Cooperation), together with Juan Hidalgo (Councilor for Social Services, Cooperation and Solidarity of the City Council of Córdoba) affirmed that they have the hope placed in the youngest, since in the words of Aurora Toscano (Delegate President of Manos Unidas) “they are going to transform the world, because they have already started to do it”.

For his part, Ángel Bustamante, from the Education Coordination, pointed out that participation in this Festival is a true appeal to all of society to fight against the figures of poverty.

We are proud to have contributed our proposal to fight against hunger, which is a daily reality for more than 800 million people in the world. The students of the Alborán School sign up to "build a more just and supportive world", accepting the challenge of Manos Unidas.
