«The great objective of people should be to seize each moment as if it were the last»

1. Laura and Roberta – Have you ever worked in another educational center?
Raul: It was always clear to me that I liked to teach. In Argentina I began to teach in various schools; I had some hours in some schools and other hours in other educational centers. It was very difficult to coordinate class hours, travel... When I had the opportunity to work in Alborán and have everything in the same place, I didn't doubt it for a second.

2. Laura and Roberta – How long have you been working in this center?
Raul: I have been working at this school for 25 years.

3. Laura and Roberta- Would you have liked to dedicate yourself to another profession?
Raul: No, it is a great luck to be able to say that I have chosen a profession that I love, that I would not change my profession for any other, I consider myself very lucky in that sense. I think that this has to be the objective of everyone, to be able to choose to study what you like to live from it, because life is very long and you also have to enjoy your work, it has to be vocational.

4. Laura and Roberta- What do you like to do in your free time?
Raul: In my free time I like to play sports, walk, practice basketball, play paddle tennis, try to enjoy my children when I can, there are many things that I like, but what I basically want is to try to enjoy every moment. You have to value each moment and each day, because each one is different from the previous one.

5. Laura and Roberta- Were you clear from the beginning what you wanted to do?
Raul: Yes, I was very lucky, at the age of 15 I was working as a basketball teacher and I saw that I liked teaching, they also told me that it was good (laughs) so I dedicated myself fully to that area. And I don't regret it, every day I like it more. The important thing is to dedicate time to know more and do things better every day, and also to continue training throughout your life. It is important not to lose sight of the perspective as a student, because we are always learning.

6. Laura and Roberta – What is your favorite sport and team?
Raul: My favorite sport has always been basketball. I started playing it when I was 5 years old and not only have I not stopped practicing it, but I'm still having fun as always. Obviously I have been adapting my game over the years, but I continue to practice and enjoy it to the fullest. And with some additions such as playing as a partner with my children, or the satisfaction of sharing games with former students, both from colleagues and rivals. In the NBA I follow the path of the San Antonio Spurs and in the Spanish league I have followed Unicaja since I arrived in Malaga. I identify with the way they understand and play basketball.

7. Laura and Roberta – Do you organize any extracurricular activity with young people?

Raul: Yes, for 20 years I have organized the Costa del Sol Tennis Circuit, which consists of 7 tournaments a year and is intended for all federated children from 8 to 18 years of age. Many boys and girls have passed through it who have later been champions of Spain in lower categories and even players who currently make up the Spanish Davis Cup team. For me that is a great satisfaction.

8. Laura and Roberta- What advice would you give to young people today?

Raul: I would tell them to organize themselves well, to be disciplined, to make better use of their time, to dedicate themselves to studying and building their future, everything that we say as a father and as a teacher.(Smiles). But at the same time I would advise them to always have a moment to take care of themselves and play sports. It is essential both physically and psychologically. They will feel much better with themselves.

9. Laura and Roberta- What is your biggest motivation to come to school every day?

Raúl: Personally, I think that the great objective of people should be to take advantage of each moment as if it were the last and without a doubt that happens by wanting and enjoying what you do. And that is what I do and transmit.
