Walking through the history of popular music. 2020-21.

On Thursday, October 15, the students of Image and Sound and ICT of the 2nd year of Baccalaureate together with the Arts in Audiovisual Culture had the pleasure of attending a very interesting conference on music, given by the director of our center, José Luis González entitled " From slavery to limousines.

In a close and entertaining talk, he offered a cultural tour in the broadest sense of the word, beginning with a reflection on the emotion produced by music linked to feelings and where history and imagination had a place.

A complete timeline from the Neolithic (with the blows on the trunks) to the urban music of the XNUMXst century, a journey through spiritual songs, ragtime, swing, blues, country and its projection in pop and rock music.

Likewise, in a practical way and with examples drawn from the evolution of music and cinema, he dedicated time to jazz, and to inform about its origin in African-American music, leading to soul, funk, disco, rap and trap.

A whole cast of musical styles, groups, music stars and the context to understand them, with parallels easy for young attendees to understand between established and current artists.

It was an exciting talk that seemed too short to all attendees.

Thank you, Fabí, for sharing so much musical culture.
