"Writers in the theater". 3rd and 4th of Secondary Education. 2017-18
On May 3, the students of 4rd and 15th year of ESO of the Alborán School attended a very interesting workshop organized by the Marbella Town Hall through the Delegation of Culture and Education that took place at the Teatro Ciudad de Marbella.
With the activity "Writers in the Theater", a debate moderated by the writer Don Alejandro Pedregosa (José Saramago Short Novel Award, Arcipreste de Hita Poetry Award and Andalusia Critics Award 2018), our students have been able to share literary experiences with authors of great prestige both in narrative and poetry.
In an enriching day for all attendees, the invited writers exposed the advantages and characteristics of both genres.
The novelist, press columnist and screenwriter Don Antonio Soler (Nadal Prize and Primavera Prize) and the poet Doña Erika Martínez (RNE Young Poetry Prize) encouraged young people to participate in literary contests, while highlighting the multiple advantages that reading to develop abstract thinking and to foster language skills and intelligence.
Erika Martínez explained that poetry offers greater linguistic possibilities, while highlighting the two factors that are mixed in poetry: imagination and music.
Don Antonio Soler, for his part, emphasized the special and rigorous treatment of language that writing stories requires.
And it is that, certainly, as Don Alejandro Pedregosa pointed out, we must achieve the balance between the plot and the words that must be used to tell a story, fictional or not.
A very interesting activity that did not leave any of the attendees indifferent.
