March 8: International Women's Day. 2016-17

Colegio Alborán has developed a proposal for educational activities on the occasion of March 8, International Women's Day, among which we highlight an interesting selection of videos and presentations, made by our Secondary and Baccalaureate students and the creation of institutional announcements, that aim to raise awareness about equal opportunities and gender violence.
We consider important the presence and visualization of women in the disciplines that education contemplates, for which reason throughout the year we work from different Departments on coeducation in the classrooms.
Through the Language and Image and Sound Departments, our Secondary and Baccalaureate students have presented us with an analysis of the prototypes of women in the media and sexism in advertising. Likewise, she has investigated women writers who had to write under the pseudonym of a man, women in Science or Nobel Prize winners, among other examples, in order to grant the place in History that these women who have excelled in different areas deserve.

The Artistic and Humanities Baccalaureate students, for their part, have decorated the school entrance with a large mural that refers to purple glasses, a metaphor used by the writer Gemma Lienas about the gender inequality that still exists in society.

From here we join the initiative to commemorate this day to claim equality between men and women and reflect on the achievements made over time and the challenges that we still have to achieve.
