March 8. International Women's Day. 2020-21

Colegio Alborán, aware of the importance of equality, works in the classrooms throughout the year on coeducation, raising awareness of the relevance of the presence and visualization of women in the different disciplines of education.

We inaugurated on March 8, International Women's Day, reading our commitment to equality between women and men and in the classroom we have dedicated time to debate and reflection.
1st year of the Baccalaureate of Arts, in the subject Audiovisual Culture, has made an original video clip of the song "Lo que es nuestro", (a song to equality) in which teachers and students have been very involved. From various subjects we have developed a series of activities to commemorate this very important day; creating an interdepartmental project,
working together the Departments of Language, English, French, History, Art, Philosophy and Science.

Our Secondary and Baccalaureate students have investigated women in various disciplines, and have developed the project "Todas cuentan". Thus, they have characterized these chosen women of different nationalities before their peers and have informed them about writers with a male pseudonym, lawyers, artists, scientists, inventors, Nobel Prize winners, actresses, suffragettes, heroines, photographers... all with the objective of these women occupying the place they deserve in history. All of them defenders of equality that offer relevant stories to be told and rescued from oblivion. Among others, Victoria Kent, Clara Campoamor, Mariana Pineda, Maruja Mallo, Fernán Caballero, Jane Austen, Colette, Simone de Beauvoir, Marie Curie, Virginia Woolf, María Zambrano, Agustina de Aragón, Joan of Arc, Las Sinsombrero, Lubna de Córdoba …

Likewise, in 3rd and 4th of ESO they have worked on the transversal project Women in Science, making precious works and posters that they have exhibited in the school hall that are added to those of other courses that show the fight of women for their participation. in society equally.

On the other hand, Cristina Carmona has captured her artistic creativity in an audiovisual work, by creating an advertisement against sexism that still exists specifically in advertising aimed at minors.

Another stimulating activity has been carried out by the Science Department; an online talk aimed at science students in 4th ESO and 2nd year of Baccalaureate, given by Macarena Gil Navarro, the only female pilot in a port in Spain. In said conference she has explained to our students the tests to practice their profession.

With all these works, we intend to change this reality and eradicate many behaviors and stereotypes that do not respect the dignity and rights of women.
With the development of all these activities, we join the initiative of social commemoration that claims equality between men and women, at the same time that it intends to reflect on the achievements obtained and the challenges that we must achieve.
